According to the Day by Day Chronological Bible that we are reading, and where these daily readings are posted from, God remains the central character in Act 2 (which is the next setting for several weeks). He sets events in motion by making covenants and working through persons whom he has chosen to further his purposes. The central human characters are members of a single family down through the generations. Starting with Abraham and Sarah and through this family, God sent the Saviour, Jesus Christ. You will know Abraham and Sarah as Abram and Sarai of the Genealogy chapter of day 6, descendent of Shem, descendent of Noah, descendent of Seth, the son born to Adam and Eve after Cain killed Abel.

So many twists in today’s reading. We see God making covenant promises to people he calls to himself despite how frail they are. Over and over we see them question his wisdom but never does he not follow through. He calls them, preserves them, provides a line of decedents through whom he will provide the blessings promised.
Yet God shows that he will deal with sin and evil showing man’s need for this promised Savior “The Lord commits himself to a people, frail as they are”
